Do I need a driving licence BE for my trailer?

Category B (from 18 years of age)
Category B + code 96 (from 18 years of age)
Category BE (from 18 years of age)

Those who obtained their B+E driving licence BEFORE 1 May 2013 have no limitation to 3,500 kg regarding the MTM of the trailer. This is in the context of acquired rights. Only those who obtained their B+E driving licence AFTER 1 May 2013 must have a C1+E driving licence for a combination of a category B tractor vehicle and a trailer with a MTM of more than 3,500 kg.

Regarding trailer registration, for a trailer with an M.T.M. (maximum permitted mass) of up to 750kg, you only need to attach a reproduction of the number plate of the towing vehicle at the back. For the registration of a trailer with an M.T.M. of more than 750kg, you need to apply for your own number plate.
